Jerni Collection, World’s Biggest Toy Collection

A collection of 35,000 vintage toys dating from 1850 to 1940 are on display at Sotheby’s in New York. The collection includes rare, handmade and historically significant European pieces, and depictions of actual rail stations, bridges and buildings.

The collector, Jerry Greene, has kept the collection in five basement rooms of his suburban Philadelphia home and hopes a public institution or an individual will acquire and donate the collection to a museum. Source

World's Largest Pair of Jeans

Seamstresses in Peru set out to set a Guinness World Record for the largest pair of jeans sewn. The pair of jeans measures 141 feet tall and 98 feet wide and weighs in at 7.5 tons. The current record is held by the city of Medellin in Columbia. That pair was 114 feet tall and 82 feet wide.

It sounds like they are just waiting for their record setting jeans to be accepted by Guinness. There wasn't a Guinness representative present, but a notary who can send documentation to the group was. Source

World’s Lowest Street Legal Car

Behold the Flatmobile that does 100mph (with help from a jet engine). Officially recognized by the Guinness World Records for lowest street legal car, the Flatmobile stands at just 19 inch or 48 cm tall. You can check the build progress of the FlatMoble at the FlatMobile website.

World's Largest Human Rainbow

On September 18, 2004, over 31,000 students, faculty, staff and alumni of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines broke the record previously held by the Maltese. They used the human rainbow to celebrate the university's centennial, which was from 1904 to 2004, and to highlight the signing of the Declaration of Peace which will be submitted to the United Nations.

This beat the previous effort of 2003, when 11,750 individuals assembled in Floriana, Malta, to break the record. (Link)

World's largest hand

24-year-old macrodactyly patient Liu Hua, from Jiangsu, China, was recognized in 2007 as the man with the world's largest hand. He was born with a left thumb, index and middle finger much larger than normal, which grew dramatically together with his arm as he grew older and has had a serious impact on his work and day-to-day life.

When Liu was hospitalized in Shanghai in July 2007, his left thumb measured 26 centimeters, his index finger was 30cm and his middle finger 15cm. The overall weight of his left arm was about 10 kilograms. Surgeons ended up making a seven-hour operation to reduce the size of Liu's fingers and thumb, removing 5.1kg of flesh and bone in the procedure. (Link)

The Youngest Professional Painter in The World

Aelita Andre is an Australian abstract artist known for her Surrealist painting style and her young age. She was born at January 9, 2007. She began to paint before her first birthday, and her work was displayed publicly in a group exhibition when she was two. Her first solo exhibition opened in New York City in June 2011, when she was four years old. Now, She known as The youngest professional painter in the world.

Andre was born to Australian father Michael Andre and Russian mother Nikka Kalashnikova. As a baby, she often watched her parents, both artists themselves, work on canvases on the floor. She learned to paint before she could walk, when she was nine months old.

Andre's mother, believing her daughter to be a child prodigy, showed some of Andre's paintings to a Melbourne-based art curator when the girl was 22 months old. Impressed with the work, the curator agreed to include it in a group exhibition in the Brunswick Street Gallery, and he began advertising the show with Andre's paintings before he learned of her age. Although he was surprised, he kept his promise to display the work. The show opened shortly after her second birthday and also featured Kalashnikova's photography.

Andre's first solo exhibition, The Prodigy of Color, opened on June 4, 2011, at the Agora Gallery in Chelsea. It contains 24 of her paintings, each on sale for between $4,400 and $10,000. The press nicknamed her "the Pee-wee Picasso" after nine of the works sold for a total of more than $30,000. According to the BBC, these sales may make the four-year-old "the youngest ever professional artist." The Prodigy of Color will close on June 25, 2011.

Art critics have commended Andre's work, classified as abstract art, for its employment of the Surrealist techniques automatism and accidentalism. She paints with acrylics and often adds three-dimensional objects, including bark, twigs, and feathers, to the canvases. Buyers of her art at her New York show noted the paintings' simplicity and richness in texture
